想當年學生時期……小 V 才沒有透漏年紀！離開學生時代有一小陣子了，你知道罰站、點名的英文怎麼說嗎？
罩我一下！
（Ｘ） Cover me!（Ｏ） Cover for me!
還記得那個要你幫忙 cover 的同學嗎？cover 這個單字除了「掩蓋；蓋上；覆蓋」，還有「掩護」的意思，然而「罩我一下」的正確英文說法不是 cover me，因為這樣聽起來會像是「罩住我」，正確說法是 cover for me，別忘了要有介系詞 for！

B: What do you want from me this time?B：你這次又想幹嘛了？

點名
（Ｘ） call everyone’s name（Ｏ） do roll call
call everyone’s name 字面意思的確是「叫每個人的名字」，但並沒有「點名確認大家是否有出席」的含義，而只是「單純叫出每個人的名字」。「點名」的正確說法為 do roll call，其中的 roll 即指「名單」。
A: You’re late!A: 你遲到了！
B: Sorry, my alarm didn’t work today. Has the teacher done roll call yet?B：抱歉，我的鬧鐘今天沒響。老師點名了嗎？
A: Not yet.A：還沒。
B: Yes!! Today is my day!B：太好了！！我今天真幸運！
上課遲到
「上課遲到」的正確說法為 be late for class，介系詞應搭配 for。be late for… 指的即是「沒趕上…」，如：be late for school (上學遲到)、be late for work (上班遲到)。補充：be late to… 的意思與 be late for… 相同。
A: Why are you still here? Don’t you have class today?A：你怎麼還在這裡？你今天不是有課？
B: No, I don’t.B：沒啊。

寫筆記
（Ｘ） write/take a note（Ｏ） take notes
雖說「寫筆記」的確是拿筆寫下，但 write a note 是錯誤的講法，錯誤的地方有兩個，第一是所搭配的動詞，第二是應用複數形 notes (筆記)，因為單數形的 note 意思是「便條；注釋」。補充：take study notes (做讀書筆記)。
A: I wonder how Roger takes notes.A：我很好奇 Roger 都怎麼寫筆記的。
B: Me too. He’s so good at studying, I bet he must be good at taking study notes.B：我也是。他那麼會讀書，我猜他一定很會做讀書筆記。
A: Do you think we could borrow his notes and take a look?A：你覺得我們可以向他借筆記看一下嗎？
B: It’s worth trying.B：值得一試。
A: We’ll definitely learn a lot.A：肯定可以學到很多。
運動會
（Ｘ） sport festival（Ｏ） sports meeting / athletic meet
sport festival 直翻意思為「運動節」，多半用來指「為期數日且囊括多種運動賽事的活動」，通常場面比較盛大，如國家舉辦的運動賽事活動。而學校舉辦的小型「運動會」則適合用 sports meeting 或是 athletic meet，意指「運動集會」，其中 sports 和 athletic 都是形容詞，意思分別為「運動的；田徑運動的」，其中 meet 在此同樣為名詞，意思是「運動會」，為美式用法，而 meeting 在此意思也是運動會，為英式用法。
A: Son, when is your school’s sports meeting?A：兒子，你們學校什麼時候運動會？
B: I don’t know yet. I suppose it would be in October.B：我還不知道。我猜應該會在十月。
A: I see.A：我了解了。
B: Will you come?B：你會來嗎？
A: I’ll see if I have time.A：我再看看我有沒有空。
老師要我罰站
（Ｘ） The teacher asked me to stand in the corner.（Ｏ） The teacher gave me time-out.
to stand in the corner 直翻意思為「站在角落」，是「去角落罰站」的直翻方式，不過在英文中其實有更為貼切的說法，也就是 give sb. a time-out ，其中 time-out 為名詞，比較常見的意思是運動賽事中的「暫停」，在此整個片語意思是要學生「去某個地方一個人靜一靜、反省自己」，因此也可以衍伸為罰站，因為罰站的目的是要學生自我反省。
A: Why is there a student standing in the corridor?A：怎麼有個學生站在走廊？
B: He’s been naughty so his teacher gave him time-out.B：他太調皮了，所以老師要他罰站。
A: Oh, I remember back in my school days, I was the king of time-out.A：噢，我還記得在我的學生時期，我簡直是罰站之王。
B: So you must be the most naughty student in your class.B：所以你一定是班上最調皮的學生。
