A: I would like to return some items.A: 我要把這些衣服退掉。B: Okay, do you have a receipt?B: A: Here you go.A: 給你。B: I’m sorry ma’am. We do not accept returns or offer exchanges on underwear.B: A: What? I want to speak to your manager!A: 什麼? Not another nutcase!)B: (啊!!!
(X) kill the price(O)bargain
雖然「殺時間,打發時間」的英文會說 kill time,但「殺價」可不是 kill the price,而是要用 bargain /ˈbɑrgən/ 這個字,例如:bargain with sb.
A: Did you go for a big shop?A: 你是去瘋狂大採購嗎?B: Yeah, I bought a lot of meat and vegetables at the wet market.B: 對啊,我去菜市場買了一堆肉跟蔬菜。A: I try to avoid wet markets. I hate the stench.A: B: Really? I actually quite like the smell of all the fresh ingredients. Plus, you can always bargain with vendors.B: 真的嗎? A: Alright! It does save money!A: 好吧!
A: I got a great deal on this set of skincare products. It was a real bargain!A: How much?B: 真假?多少錢啊?A: The salesperson said it’s 50 percent off! So it only cost me 22,000 NTD!A: 銷售員跟我說現在打五折!所以我只花了兩萬二!B: Wait… what brand is it and where did you buy it?B: 等等… 你在哪買的?A: It’s called Fountain of Youth. I bought it from the ABC pharmacy.A: B: You were ripped off! That stuff isn’t even close to being worth 22,000 NTD!B:
(X) compare stores(O) shop around
A: Nice dress! You look so gorgeous. B: Thanks, but I should have shopped around.B: A: Did you find a lower price?A: 妳有看到賣得更便宜的嗎?B: Yeah! Right after I bought it, I saw another store selling it for only 490 NTD!B: 對,我一付完錢,我就看到另一間店只賣 490 元!A: How much did you spend then?A: 那妳花多少錢?B: 990 NTD!B: 990 元!A: Well… I guess that lost 500 NTD will teach you to shop around next time.A:
A: Hey, I got a part-time job!A: 嘿,我找到一份兼差了!B: Congratulations! What will you be doing?B: 恭喜耶!是哪一種工作?A: It’s a job that can stimulate the economy and grow our GDP.A: 這是一份可以刺激經濟,讓 GDP 成長的工作。B: Wow, sounds really meaningful!B: 哇,那很有意義耶!A: Yep. I’ll be handing out flyers in front of the ABC pharmacy every weekend.A: B: *facepalm*B: (傻眼)
奧客
(X) bad customer(O) difficult customer
A: How’s the new job?A: 你的新工作如何?B: Didn’t I tell you? A: How come? I thought the pay was nice.A: 怎麼會? B: It did, but I couldn’t stand difficult customers anymore.B: A: That’s why I decided to be an engineer. You rarely have to deal with customers.A: 所以我才選擇當工程師。 B: Maybe I should change my career path.B:
