在英文裡，很多的單字是同時具有名詞與動詞功能，當這些字夾雜在一大段的文字裡面，明明每個字都認得，可是放在一起就是看不懂。這個狀況就是因為你不知道這個字還另外一個意思。當名詞作為動詞使用時，通常有兩個主要目的。

1.water
名詞：水，I drink lots of mineral water.（我喝很多礦泉水。）
動詞：澆水，Could you water those plants for me?（可以幫我澆花嗎？）
2.address
名詞：地址，May I have you address, please?（想跟你要個地址。）
動詞：說明，Please address your points properly.（請你詳述你的重點。）
3.function
名詞：功能，What is the major function of this product?（這個產品的最大用處是？）
動詞：運轉，Does this machine still function well?（這部機器還能正常運作嗎？）
4.phone
名詞：電話，I don't have a mobile phone.（我没有手機。）
動詞：回電，Could you phone me back?（回撥給我嗎？）
5.joke
名詞：玩笑，That's a funny joke.（那個玩笑很有趣。）
動詞：開玩笑，I like to joke around with people.（我喜歡對別人開玩笑。）
6.access
名詞：門路、途徑，Where is the access to get into the building.（哪裡有到大樓的通道？）
動詞：取得、存取，How can we access those candidates data?（我們要怎麽取得這些人員資料？）
7.contact
名詞：連絡人，Could you add me into your contacts?（能把我加入你的連絡人嗎？）
動詞：連絡、接洽，I would contact you soon after.（我會盡快連絡你的。）
8.impact
名詞：衝擊，Any of our manager's wrong moves will have a big impact on our company.（主管任何錯誤決定都會對公司帶來很大衝擊。）
動詞：影響，The move is not expected to impact any employees in this company.（公司搬家並不會對任何員工有所影響。）
9.pack
名詞：一批、一套，Here is your employee contract pack.（這個是你的員工合約守則。）
動詞：打包、包裝，Please pack your luggage properly. （請把你的行李妥善打包好。）
10.limit
名詞：上限，What is the budget limit for our department?（我們部門的預算上限是多少？）
動詞：限制，A good manager will not limit employee's personal development.（好的主管不會限制員工個人成長。）
